Drafter/ Mechanical Designer

Location: Sherbrooke, Canada

AMF Canada is the largest manufacturer of industrial bakery machinery in Canada. The Sherbrooke, Quebec division designs and manufactures custom-made machines for the Company’s international customers. The AMF Canada team is constantly innovating and developing in order to remain the leader in its industry. In particular, the company exports mixers, conveyors, coolers, bread slicers, bread baggers, and several other industrial bakery machines. AMF Canada employs more than 150 people in Sherbrooke, providing a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to be part of its team as: Drafter/Mechanical Designer.

Job summary:

Under the product group leader’s supervision and as a Mechanical Engineering team member, you will design parts and assemblies and complete drawings of details corresponding to different bakery equipment. You will have to meet specific deadlines to meet the requirements of our customers. In addition, you will have to collaborate with the product owner for estimating, planification, and manufacturing monitoring.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create machines, accessories, and/or options at the client’s request
  • Consult catalogs, different reference tools, and suppliers to select the components of the drawings
  • Develop and verify detailed or assembly drawings by 2D computer (Autocad) and 3D (Solid Edge) from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, or other data
  • Repair sketches from surveys on machines for drawings
  • Participate in solving technical issues on research and development projects and in product improvement
  • Strictly adhere to quality standards and design standards

Job knowledge and abilities should include, but are not limited to:

  • Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Solid edge and Autocad software
  • Engineering knowledge of materials properties as well as mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic bases

Experience:

  • Mechanical engineering technique or professional in industrial design or relevant experience on the job
  • 1-3 years of experience
