Master Planner

Location: AMF Richmond

Job summary:

AMF is searching for a Master Planner to be the primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments. The planner will collaborate with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client and customer needs.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available raw materials inventory; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and acquire additional supplies as needed
  • Negotiates with outside supply vendors; ensures accurate and timely delivery of orders
  • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates
  • Maintains master distribution schedule for the assigned facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays
  • Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff
  • Performs other related duties, as required

Knowledge, skills, and abilities should include, but are not limited to:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Extremely proficient with production planning systems

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • At least five years of related experience required

Physical requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Working conditions:

  • Typical manufacturing facility conditions (Indoors ~95% / Outdoors ~5%)
  • The facility is heated in winter but not air-conditioned in summer
  • Can occasionally be loud, especially in local areas where grinding or machine testing occurs. Earplugs are provided and required where posted
