Job Summary:

The position is part of the AMF Richmond Engineering team. The Mechanical Engineer / Product Owner of the Make-up Equipment group of our dough processing equipment area is a Mechanical Engineering based skill set with a strong desire for innovation.  This person will be tasked with handling orders for our current make-up technology that require some product development as part of the order. In addition, developing new product lines to meet the needs of our current and future customers.

An area of critical importance for this role is adapting the existing AMF Make-up Technology to new markets like Specialty Rolls, Flat Breads, Tortilla, etc.  AMF is migrating our technology to meet the needs of our existing customers that are offering a wider range of products. The Product Owner will design, manage and execute projects from definition, through release to manufacturing, testing and start-up.

How You Will Impact AMF (including, but not limited to):

  • The ideal candidate for this position should have a minimum of 10 years of engineering design/detailing experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred. Experience working in a plant engineering position will be considered
  • Prefer experience in electro-mechanical designs in the food processing industry, especially Dough Processing knowledge. Supervisory or product leader experience desirable
  • Must be able to generate project plans for custom equipment designs working with Sales, Marketing and existing clients
  • Travel for Customer and Site visits, as well as start-up and equipment field testing
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced environment coupled with superior communication skills are essential, along with a very strong desire to innovate in design

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Responsible for executing Design and Engineering in conformance to all applicable Industrial Safety, Sanitation and general design practices, One AMF standards, as well as customer specific procedures
  • Execute Engineering policies and procedures
  • Lead all significant project milestone reviews for Specialty PD and R&D projects

Education/Experience (including, but not limited to):

  • Excellent PC Skills, Microsoft Office Environment, AutoCAD and 3d design skills, Solidedge preferred
  • Working Knowledge of Engineering Order design and release process
  • Excellent Interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to interact effectively with personnel from all departments internal to AMF (Engineering, Assembly, Manufacturing, Service, Sales, Parts, etc.) as well as external (Sales, Customers, Vendors)
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills
  • Effective group leadership skills
