Production Planner

Location: Richmond, Virginia

AMF Bakery Systems offers best-in-class system solutions for industrial bakeries across the globe. Our Richmond location in Virginia provides a dynamic work environment and a chance to join our team as a Production Planner for the Flex Product Group.

The Production Planner is responsible for the early-stage inputs which ensure the Production Schedule can be executed with maximum efficiency.  The Planner will conduct order scheduling meetings, create Production BOMs, monitor order health, and maintain the Production Schedule.  This individual will work collaboratively with the supply chain and purchasing teams to identify risks, escalate issues, recommend countermeasures, and continually improve and document processes.  This individual will be a key participant in the success of the assembly operation, machine on-time delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead “Order Release Meetings”, determine milestone dates for projects, and guide insource/outsourcing decisions.
  • Upon Engineering BOM release, create “Production BOM” and ensure proper setup in line with Assembly schedule, labor, and floor availability.
  • Open, manage, and update Work Orders in ERP as needed.
  • Manage long-term assembly schedule, capacity view, and highlight risks.
  • Monitor project order health and hygiene.  Seek out errors or set-up issues that may prevent ordering or processing.  Work with appropriate teams to address this.
  • Monitor machine part’s projected delivery dates and raise issues for corrective action.
  • Support daily GEMBA walk with identification of key issues for teammates and report on results.
  • Support troubleshooting and research on specific “stuck” orders by partnering with different departments and teammates.
  • Support a culture of safety and maintain a zero-accident environment. Ensure a safe and suitable work environment for self, teammates, and customers.

Required Knowledge/Skills & Experience:

  • Superior knowledge and aptitude with ERP systems required; Microsoft Dynamics D365 expertise a plus.
  • Min. of 2 years experience in a production/manufacturing environment
  • Basic mechanical and electrical parts knowledge or aptitude is a plus.
  • Superior Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and influence people from different departments and functions.
  • Proven ability to lead problem-solving efforts, identify root causes, and recommend workable solutions.
  • Experience identifying and documenting problems and solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to handle detailed, complex work with competing priorities.
  • Motivated, focused, friendly, patient, organized, and proactive individual who can work with minimal direction.

Working Conditions:

This position is typically moving between an office environment and the manufacturing and warehouse floor. There will be occasional physical effort and risk associated with working in the warehouse.
