Skid|Crate Builder

Location: Richmond, VA & Tucker GA

AMF Bakery Systems offers best-in-class system solutions for industrial bakeries across the globe. We prioritize sustainability and have developed the first-ever industrial hydrogen oven to help our clients reduce food and energy waste daily. Our Richmond location in Virginia provides a dynamic work environment and a chance to join our team as a Skid|Crate Builder.


The Builder will work as a cross-functional team member working with multiple departments to complete the assigned tasks. The main areas the teammate will work with are shipping, manufacturing, and warranty. The main tasks include building skids/pallets, cutting raw material, packing the crates/skids, and other assigned tasks.

Duties Include:

  • Understand verbal, written, and drawn engineering instructions
  • Build wooden skids/crates from scratch and ready parts/equipment for shipping on skids/crates
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and functionality
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a limited amount of time, with expected quality, while following safety practices
  • Building and preparing skids for shipping
  • Cutting raw lumber
  • Be highly motivated
  • Manage their own time and workspace

What You Need To Succeed:

  • Understand verbal, written, and drawn engineering instructions
  • Build wooden skids/crates from scratch and ready parts/equipment for shipping on skids/crates
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and functionality
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a limited amount of time, with expected quality, and while following safety practices
  • Trade school or experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely operate a fork truck
  • Geospatial Recognition/3-Dimensional Thinking

Working Conditions:

  • Indoors (95%) and outdoors (5%) working conditions
  • The warehouse is heated in winter and dehumidified in summer
  • The employee must be able to stand on concrete floors for a minimum of eight hours. Kneeling, squatting, bending over, and standing for long periods are required to perform assigned tasks
  • Can occasionally be loud, especially in local areas where grinding or machine testing occurs. Earplugs are provided
  • Safety glasses and steel-toed safety shoes are required
  • Long pants and a sleeved shirt
